Topic: Climate, land use, humans -- the new role of terrestrial vegetation in climate neutrality pathways

Prof. Dr. Julia Pongratz discussed the need for land use and management reform in order to achieve carbon neutrality. She also introduces techniques for carbon dioxide removal. Prof. Pongratz touched on the health problems associated with climate change as well as the potential co-benefits as a result of changing land use practices.

Global Health Research - GLOHRA Academy Series - Event Announcement

The Series directs special attention towards the added value of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in global health research. On the first Tuesday of the month, speakers share insights of their research projects while focusing on research processes, methods as well as lessons learned. Following the 30 minute speaker’s presentation, the Series encourages an academic exchange between the speaker and the audience in a 30 minute Q&A session.

Prof. Dr. Julia Pongratz is full professor for Physical Geography and Land Use Systems at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München. With her work seeks to connect disciplines and serves as member of several interdisciplinary boards, amongst others, the Steering Committee of GLOHRA. During her presentation she will shed light on global health aspects with regard to climate crisis and land use.
