Global Health Research - GLOHRA Academy Series
Guest Speaker: Prof. Dr. Clarissa Prazeres da Costa
Topic: Infection & Immunity in Global Health
Event Announcement
The Series directs special attention towards the added value of interdisciplinary and international cooperation in global health research. Every first Tuesday of the month, speakers share insights of their research projects while focusing on research processes, methods as well as lessons learned. Following the 30 minute speaker’s presentation, the Series encourages an academic exchange between the speaker and the audience in a 30 minute Q&A session.
Prof. Clazeres da Costa will talk about her research on infection and immunity and reflect on the pivotal role of vaccines in prevention and control of infectious diseases. She will report on the GLOHRA-funded interdisciplinary research project that seeks to systematically review and analyze the impact of helminth infections on the immune response to and efficacy of vaccines. Insights from this project will lead to the generation of knowledge-translation resources to inform clinical and public health practice guidelines, set the basis for the design of new studies investigating new vaccination strategies and eventually formulate scientific consensus statements.
