“Buklod” is a Filipino term that means to bind or reinforce existing collaboration, and the GLOHRA-supported Buklod project seeks to upgrade technical know-hows and leverage research outputs and dissemination in the Philippines and Germany. The project is a joint initiative of Heidelberg University in Germany and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in the Philippines. As part of their capacity-building measures, the team recently conducted a 5-day workshop in the Philippines for about 25 people on academic writing and academic research. Participants rated the modules overwhelmingly as “excellent.” One person captures the sentiment of the participants: “I very much appreciated the supportive environment from the lecturers and peers that encouraged me to work on my manuscript (despite the challenges). Thank you so much to the BUKLOD team for this amazing learning experience.”

Buklod is one of three GLOHRA Partnerships for Research and Training in Health (PATH) Projects, supported with funds from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
